None of us are born as perfect mothers.
Mothering is something that is learned and perfected over time through hands-on experience and wisdom from those who have gone before.
I do believe that all women are born with an innate calling and tendency toward motherhood, and this is a part of God’s amazing design.
When we first become moms, most of the time it’s not because we know exactly what we’re doing, but more because there’s something inside of us that WANTS to have children and to mother them.
Of course, there are other situations that can bring motherhood on unexpectedly, but no matter how it happens, a mother is born when the baby birthed, and the journey begins.
There is so much to learn!
All of it is new.
Even if you babysat, nannied, worked at a school or daycare/childcare, there’s nothing like having your own children.
They don’t leave at 3pm every day. They are there, 24/7, 365…and you’re IT.
You’re the mom. You’re the one who’s supposed to know how to do it all and do it right and somehow assist this tiny human to grow into a fully functioning adult, all without ruining them.
That’s a TALL order.
And one we cannot fill alone.
We NEED Jesus and His presence, and His saving, redeeming, and protecting gift of salvation.
We NEED Holy Spirit with all of His wisdom, insight, and knowledge.
We NEED Father God to continue to train us up into better and better adults and mothers.
I’ve heard this said and it’s absolutely true: God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.

We have been called to motherhood and we can trust that God will give us everything we need to do it, exactly when we need it, AND redeem and restore things when we mess up.
No bad situation is bigger than God is.
No awful choice is beyond His restoration and salvation.
He is bigger than all of this and more than that, HE LOVES US!
He is MOTIVATED by Love!
He is so kind and compassionate, so merciful and loyal.
He isn’t going anywhere.
You will NEVER be alone, mama!
Never.
As we travel down our own paths to/in motherhood, we can take comfort in the fact that everything will actually be okay when we put it into God’s hands.
Release your motherhood to Him. Let Him show you how YOU were designed to mother, because it is GOOD!
God has the perfect wisdom, protection, and provision for you, so ask Him for it and expect to receive His best. That’s how He does things for those He loves…YOU.
The journey of motherhood will be quite an adventure, filled with ups and downs and twists and turns, but it’s worth it. All of it.
You’ve got this mama! You’re doing great.
Xoxoxo
Kristi
