I just love fall, don’t you?
After the hot weather of summertime, the cooler temperatures are a welcome change (especially when I’ve been pregnant).
The beauty of seasons is that they do change.
All seasons do this whether they are natural or personal. Sometimes the change is a great relief and it’s nice to leave a hard season behind. Other times, a happier season can end and shift to something else and that can be hard and sad.
Either way, seasons are a good thing. They bring growth, maturing, and a learning to let things go.
The changing of seasons in mothering can be joyful and also very hard because of the “lasts”…
The last time you breastfeed/bottlefeed your baby.
The last time you can hold your growing child(ren) because they are getting almost too big and too heavy for you to lift.
The season of childbearing ending…the last pregnancy, newborn, etc.
The last time your child(ren) eat and sleep under your roof because they are now adults leaving your home to live their own lives.
There is a continual stream of seasons that are ending, big and small, BUT there then is also a continual stream of seasons that are just beginning and THAT is exciting!
Just as the leaves on deciduous trees turn beautiful colors, die, and fall off, never to return, so also this process makes room for the NEW growth of the coming spring and the greater abundance of foliage and fruit.

Without the Fall, there would be no room for Spring.
Without Winter, there would be no time of rest to prepare for the coming season of new growth.
Without Summer, there would be no harvest.
All of these things work together to create a beautiful picture…and so do our own personal seasons and seasons of motherhood.
It really is all beautiful.
And it’s going to be okay.
If you’re in the ending of a season, start getting excited! The best IS yet to be!
Love and blessings,
Kristi
