Mama, It’s Okay

It’s okay that you didn’t finish the dishes last night.

It’s okay that the laundry is all piled up. AGAIN.

It’s okay that you served breakfast for more than one meal today…more specifically, cereal.

It’s okay that you don’t have all of the food groups perfectly balanced and served at every meal.

It’s okay that you missed your shower and had to use more dry shampoo and baby wipes to freshen up. (P.S. baby wipes actually work really well when showers are unavailable and you don’t have a lot of time)

It’s okay that you didn’t iron that shirt…just spray it with water, give it a shake, smooth out the cuffs, collar, and front placket (where all the button holes are), and hang it up to dry.

It’s okay that your diaper bag ran out of diapers, you forgot to restock it, and you now have no diapers to change your baby’s blowout with. All while out shopping. ***

***Here’s one solution: If you can’t find another mom (most of us carry some size of diapers or pull-ups with us most of the time), just grab a plastic bag and a burp cloth for a makeshift cloth diaper, and fasten them around your little one’s bum and finish your shopping…but don’t take too long. It should hold until you’re home and can put a diaper back on. This advice comes from the actual experience of one of my friends!

It’s okay that you messed up today. Multiple times. Tomorrow’s a new day! It will be all right.

It’s okay that you reheated your coffee or tea for the 10th time in an effort to have something nice and to stay awake.

It’s okay that you cried a lot.

It’s okay that you let the dirty dishes pile up and played with your children instead.

It’s okay that you let the dirty laundry sit while you took a mental break…and didn’t get back to said laundry until everyone had only one pair of clean underwear left in their drawers.

It’s okay that you sat on the toilet for as long as you possibly could so you could be alone for a few minutes.

It’s okay that you ate your children’s leftovers in addition to your meal. Or that your children’s leftovers and a few granola bars were all you could grab for yourself before leaving for soccer practice.

It’s okay that you don’t know everything.

It’s okay that you took a nap.

It’s okay that you decided to kick butt during naptime and get some things done.

It’s okay.

It’s going to be okay.

All of it.

Because. Jesus.

He is with you! He is for you! He has chosen you for this job, children, and calling, and He is equipping you!

There is no need to fear or be anxious. He’s got it all.

And, He’s got YOU, mama!

Much love and blessings,

Kristi
