Bad attitudes towards ourselves, our spouses, and our children.
They happen.
We are tired. Fed up. Exhausted. In need of a break or fresh inspiration.
It’s okay to go through this yuck. This stuff is par for the course.
Hard days happen. Sometimes it’s hard weeks. Or hard months. Or hard years.
It can get really tough to be a mom…to want to continue being one.
Sometimes a thought or a daydream slips in of what things would look like without children. How much easier would it be, how much more sleep you would be getting, how much more money you could spend on whatever you wanted, etc.
That’s rough. It’s also real and part of the journey.
Did we choose motherhood because it was the easiest life path? Nope. Not even close. We knew it was going to be hard in some way, but we really had NO idea just how hard it could get!

We chose motherhood because it calls deep inside of us. It is an eternal seed of heavenly destiny that lies planted in each one of our hearts.
We chose motherhood because of the fleeting glimpses of a glorious harvest when we are older…grand-babies, finding amazing friendship in our adult children, not being alone in our elderly years, etc.
We chose motherhood because babies are SO CUTE. No, really. Nobody chooses pregnancy *just* to experience all the symptoms and the rollercoaster that is labor and birth. Nope. We choose it because of the JOY (babies!) that will come out of it!

Reminds me of a verse…
“We look away from the natural realm and we focus our attention and expectation onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection. His example is this: Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be his, he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God!” —Hebrews 12:2 TPT
So, no, bad attitudes and bad days do not define us or our motherhood and they do NOT have permission to determine our value or what kind of job we’re doing as moms.
We are human. Fleshly. If you have Jesus in your heart, your heavenly spirit wants to do what Jesus wants and your flesh wants to do other things that usually don’t line up. It’s HARD!!!
“I’m a mystery to myself, for I want to do what is right, but end up doing what my moral instincts condemn.” —Romans 7:15 TPT
“I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.” —Romans 7:15 NLT
“Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.” —Romans 7:24-25 NLT
Here’s the truth behind all of this:
You are a dearly loved child of Jesus Christ. He knows you, He created you, and He has SUCH good plans for you! He also died to save you from the curse of sin and death while you were still in the middle of it. He loves you THAT much!
Your worth, your value, and your identity all stem from His heart of love for you. And it is unconditional and forever faithful.
With Jesus, you are ALWAYS a success, because it is His power inside of you that is enabling you to do the work at hand. And, He makes your way perfect.
“God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect.” —Psalms 18:32 NLT

Want to know something else amazing? When you have Jesus in your heart, every. Single. Bad. Thing. You’ve ever done, are doing, and will ever do, is forgiven and covered under His blood! You are now spotless, clean, pure, and innocent.
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.” —Romans 8:1-2 NLT
All in all, don’t let a bad attitude or a bad day wreck how you view yourself. Ask Jesus what He thinks of you! He will respond with love and compassion. And what He says is the truth. Xoxo
You ARE a good mom!!!
You’ve got this.
