Motherhood is dangerous.

It dares to believe in a better world with better humans.

It dares to think outside the box and create something new.

It dares to lay its own life down so another (or others) can pick up their own.

Motherhood SCARES the Devil and all of his demons, so he does whatever he can to attack and extinguish it. He doesn’t want women to become mothers.

Why?

Because each woman is created in the very image of God. He brings forth life and so do we. He creates new things and so do we. He nurtures, protects, teaches, and cares for us, and so do we with our children.

We are like Him. We were created to reflect His glory and to be transformed out of the gnarly muck of sin into our glorious selves, truly fulfilling the calling(s) in our lives.

One of the greatest lies out there is that becoming a mother (most specifically having children) will wreck your life.

Not true.

Not only will becoming a mother save your life in a way (one of the ways being that it will rescue you from selfishness because WOW do you give of yourself as a mom!!!), but it will make it that much more fulfilling and satisfying to you.

Whatever the world is shouting or whispering at you, flip it. That will usually be the truth that God is trying to show you.

Example:

World: becoming a mom and having children will totally derail your career aspirations and ruin your future.

God: becoming a mom and having children will enhance your callings/aspirations and will make your future so much brighter and filled with hope!

Motherhood is a life-long calling and occupation, but it is not the only one we will have.

Instead of ruining you and your future, motherhood will EQUIP you and give you experience and tools for your future.

Not only this, but motherhood will equip and train the next generation.

The importance of this can be easily underestimated.

It might be easy to think, “let someone else have the kids”, but if everyone thought that, there would be no next generation and we would all die out. Don’t worry though, that isn’t going to happen.

One of the biggest strategies of the Devil against motherhood is to get moms out of the home. Then he can get at the children, the next generation.

I’m going to be brave and say this….

Mama, if you have children, YOU need to raise them.

Not daycare.

Not childcare.

Not public/private/charter/religious/boarding/etc. school

Not a nanny.

Not anyone else.

You.

God didn’t give your children to another woman. He gave them to you.

Now, hold on a sec before running away…the things I listed above can be great TOOLS as a mom!

They are NOT evil or bad.

In fact, these tools can be a God-send! Just don’t let them take your place in raising your children. Use them instead to augment your motherhood and bring LIFE to you and your children.

We all are different. We were each created to mother in an entirely different way and that is GOOD.

Be YOU. Be you as a mom. And it will be enough.

So here’s the challenge I want to give to you…

Take up your motherhood. Take it BACK. Save it.

Don’t let the world or the Devil tell you how much your motherhood is or isn’t worth. Tell that imp to SHUT UP and then RUN towards Jesus and everything He says about you and your motherhood.

Pick up your motherhood and slap the puny Devil in the FACE. He is NOT going to get your children!

You can do this!!! You were literally CREATED for mothering.

Go mama, go!!!
